Frank Barbaro is a long time Lieutenant with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office. His decades of experience and exposure help us to understand what the climate is like inside the department that serves our rural community. In this episode we get a Frank's eye view of the good, the bad, and the ugly.
From Frank's perspective, YCSO appears to have issues with the prioritization of funds, proper patrol staffing numbers(based on needs of the community rather than available positions), recruitment and attrition, and an Internal Affairs system being weaponized against employees at nearly all levels. None of this is made clear in official presentations to the public.
This is a perspective most people could not be aware of without personally knowing someone who works in the department. The upcoming election for the position of Sheriff could change things immensely. Whether we get a new sheriff.. or just put pressure on the current one to do a better job for the community, it matters little to me.
Ultimately, We the People want to know that our deputies have our backs wen we need them. And the deputies want to serve with confidence knowing that their leadership has their backs too.
